In the second day of the Italian National Championships currently underway in Florence the women’s 10km race is scheduled at 5:10 pm. As has been the case for about ten years, this women's event of the Italian Individual Championship is dedicated to the memory of Annarita Sidoti. The races take place on a 1,000m circuit on Viale Ferruccio Valcareggi outside the Ridolfi Sports Field in Florence. Race walker Christopher Linke (Eintracht Frankfurt) has won more than a dozen German championship titles in his career. On Sunday, he added a victory in the new half-marathon distance to his list of achievements. The 37-year-old secured a clear victory in Kelsterbach with a time of 1:28:04. After two marathons this season outdoors, this was the veteran's first race at this newly introduced distance.
