  On the first Saturday of May, the 52nd International Sports Walking Festival “Alytus 2026“. At the same time, it is – World Athletics Tour Silver competition and the first Lithuanian athletic walking half marathon championship. Half Marathon Men The international festival was dominated by Ukrainians: in fact the first six places in the race were won by Ukrainian athletes. Mykola Rushchak won the first place (1:26:16), second place to  Serhii Svitlychnyi (1:28:46), and the third place was won by Eduard Muravskyi (1:34:47).   Race walker Christopher Linke (Eintracht Frankfurt) has won more than a dozen German championship titles in his career. On Sunday, he added a victory in the new half-marathon distance to his list of achievements. The 37-year-old secured a clear victory in Kelsterbach with a time of 1:28:04. After two marathons this season outdoors, this was the veteran's first race at this newly introduced distance. The podium was completed by a different generation of athletes: 20-year-old Frederick Weigel (OSC Potsdam) finished second with a time of 1:30:42. The event was hosted by Robert Korzeniowski, who once again organized a walking meeting in Warsaw, part of the prestigious World Athletics Race Walking Tour and specifically Silver Label.   Italy returns from Brasilia, where the 2026 edition of the World Team Race Walking Championships (formerly the IAAF World Cup and, before that, the old Lugano Trophy) took place last Sunday, with a remarkable medal haul. The most historic result was achieved by Francesco Fortunato in the new Half Marathon Race Walk, marking the first victory of an Italian in this type of Championship after 65 years.
