Partenza veloce di Baljeet Kaur (IND) sul passo di 4:26/km che guadagna una trentina di metri su Margret Gati (KEN).

- 3.000m: 14:06.90 con Margret Gati che si è avvicinata assieme a Yelena Sborets (ANA), Sofia Ramos Rodriguez (MEX), Eliska Martinkova (CZE) e Anastasiya Kolchina (ANA), Qualche metro più distante le altre.

Ai 4.000m sono in cinque a guidare la gara con in testa Margret Gati e Sofia Ramos Rodriguez.

Poco dopo i 4.400m allunga Sofia Ramos Rodriguez (MEX). Si capisce subito che non sarà più raggiunta. Passa in testa a metà gara in 23:28.88 con quasi 7 secondi di vantaggio sulla Keniana e sulla Kolchina (ANA) che però 100m dopo viene fermata per 60 secondi nella zona di penalità. Seguono Eliska Martinkova (CZE), Yelena Sborets (ANA), Elvira Carré e Maele Biré-Heslouis (FRA), Martina Casiraghi (ITA) e Valeriya Sholomitska (UKR).

Nella seconda parte di gara assistiamo ad un assolo della messicana.

La lotta per le altre medaglie si sblocca verso i 7.000m quando dietro alla Ramos Rodriguez (32:33.91) si portano in quattro: Eliska Martinkova, Yelena Sborets, Maele Biré-Heslouis e Elvina Carré. Le segue ad una decina di metri Martina Casiraghi.

Ma è la situazione tecnica a far cambiare tutto: Yelena Sborets e Elvira Carré (FRA) hanno due red cards a loro carico, ma continuano imperterrite.

Nel frattempo Eliska Martinkova e Maele Biré-Heslouis hanno allungato e si danno battaglia sorpassandosi vicendevolmente.

Agli 8.000m passano nel seguente ordine: Sofia Ramos Rodriguez (37:12.98), Maele Biré-Heslouis (38:09.88), Eliska Martinkova (38:11.04), Yelena Sborets (38:19.48), 

Elvina Carré (38:22.93), Martina Casiraghi (38:28.74) e Valeriya Sholomitska (38:35.13).

Ai 9.000m Sofia Ramos Rodriguez (MEX) passa in 41:49.88.

Poco dopo i 9.000m paga il prezzo della tecnica Elvira Carré (FRA) che riceve in brevissimo tempo altre due red cards e viene immediatamente squalificata.

Negli ultimi 1.000m la lotta per argento a bronzo fra Eliska Martinkova e Maele Biré-Heslouis si fa incandescente, ma si risolverà in favore della francese.

Ancora un altro stravolgimento per le posizioni successive: la squalifica di Elvira Carré aveva portato al quarto posto Martina Casiraghi che averva superato Yelena Sborets (2 red cards).  La Casiraghi però nell'ultimo giro deve alzare bandiera bianca per il ritorno a Valeriya Sholomitska.

Quick start of Baljeet Kaur (IND) on the pace of 4:26/km which gains about thirty meters on Margret Gati (KEN).

The split times of the leader:

- 1.000m: 4:26.23

- 2.000m: 9:11.53

- 3.000m: 14:06.90 with Margret Gati together with Yelena Sborets (ANA), Sofia Ramos Rodriguez (MEX), Eliska Martinkova (CZE) and Anastasiya Kolchina (ANA), a few meters further away from the others.

At 4.000m, five are leading the race led by Margret Gati and Sofia Ramos Rodriguez.

Shortly after 4.400m forces the pace Sofia Ramos Rodriguez (MEX). It soon becomes clear that she will no longer be reached. Meanwhile Eliska Martinkova and Maele Biré-Heslouis have stretched and battle each other overtaking.

Yet another twisting for subsequent positions: the disqualification of Elvira Carré had brought Martina Casiraghi to fourth place, who had overtaken Yelena Sborets  (2 red cards). Casiraghi, however, in the last lap must raise the white flag for the return to Valeriya Sholomitska.
