20km marcia su strada donne
Anche in questa gara l'Italiansi presenta con un terzetto di tutto rispetto, assieme a Spagna.
Vanno subito in testa le atletle spagnole con Laura Garcia Caro che guida il gruppo ai
- 2km in 9:21
- 4km in 18:34 (9:13)
Viene poi rilevata dalla connazionale Maria Perez (ESP) che guiderà la gara per tutta la parte centrale.
I passaggi sono i seguenti:
- 6km: 27:31 (8:57)
- 8km: 36:33 (9:01)
- 10km: in 45:37 (9:04)
Ma già tra l'ottavo ed il decimo km la situazione tecnica si fa sentire.
La prima a farne le spese è proprio Nicole Colombi (ITA) che la scia la compagnia con due red cards per mancanza di contatto ed una per sbloccaggio.
Tra il km 11 e il 12 stessa sorte tocca a Laura Garcia Caro (ESP) (anche per lei due red cards per mancanza di contatto ed una per sbloccaggio). Torneremo in seguito su questom argomento !
Le altre due italiane a metà gara: Eleonora Dominici (7° in 46:32) e Diana Cacciotti (10° in 46:54)
Il gruppo di testa si diluisce sotto la spinta di Maria Perez.
- ai 12km: in 54:53 (9:18)
- ai 14km: in 1:04:00 (9:07)
Ai 15km sono in testa in due Maria Perez (ESP) che è stata raggiunta da Klavdyia Afanasyeva (ANA) e passano in 1:13:06
Seguono: Zivilie Vaiciukeviciute (LTU) in 1:13:47 e Viktoryia Rashchupkina (BLR) in 1.14:09 davanti ad Eleonora Dominici (ITA) in 1:14:50
Ai 16km Lidia Sanchez-Puebla (ESP) ha raggiunto la connazionale e la Russa che gareggia da indipendente e si porta in testa (1:11:59) nonostante le due red cards a suo carico. Poco dopo verrà squalificata.
Klavdyia Afanasyeva (ANA) allunga il passo e la gara sembra omai essere terminata per la lotta per le medaglie.

Even in this race, Italians are presented with a third of all respect, together with Spain.
They immediately head the Spanish athletes with Laura Garcia Caro who drives the group to
- 2km in 9:21
- 4km at 18:34 (9:13)
She is then picked by fellow countryman Maria Perez (ESP) who will lead the race across the central part.
The split times are as follows:
- 6km: 27:31 (8:57)
- 8km: 36:33 (9:01)
- 10km in 45:37 (9:04)
But already between the eighth and tenth km the technical situation is felt.
The first to pay it is Nicole Colombi (ITA) out of the race with two red cards for loss of contact and one for bent knee.

Klavdyia Afanasyeva (ANA) force the pace and the race seems to have been ended for the fight for medals.
