The Slovak track and field season is still not definitively closed.
Only race walking can put a point behind it.
Today Saturday, October 15, the Slovak 20,000m track walk championship will take place at the renovated athletics stadium of the Matej Bel University in Banská Bystrica. Important bonus points for the world ranking will be given out, especially in the women's category.
This year, female walkers in their twenties did not fight for Slovak titles, only the Slovak men's 20km road championship was held in Czech Poděbrady in April.
Walking titles were last awarded on the track at the end of the pandemic year 2020. At that time, it was an emergency solution before the postponed Olympic season - in Trnava on December 5, in addition to the 20,000, there was also an "endless" 50,000 m (125 laps).
One of the race walking championships was held in the autumn term last year as well.
Attention will be focused on the trio from the organizing team ŠK Dukla and Banská Bystrica - participants in this year's Eugene 2022 and Munich 2022, Burzalová and Hačundová, as well as Klaudia Žárska.
"The girls are still young, they need to collect points, especially in their twenties," emphasized Roman Benčík, their coach. According to him, his charges are ready to achieve quality times, which will also be the key to higher point gains: "They are in very good shape. I would not be surprised if all of them broke the 1:40:00 mark, which would be the best Slovak performance this year and a personal record for two of them. I assume that all three will be attacking their personal bests."
Their personal best are:
- Ema Hačundová: 20.000m track no mark; 20km road: 1:43:24
- Hana Burzalová: 20.000m track no mark; 20km road: 1:39:58
- Klaudia Žárska: 20.000m track no mark; 20km road: 1:40:11
In men event attention will be focused on Dominik Černý: 20.000m track no mark; 20km road: 1:24:00
