First day of competitions in Modena (ITA), for the national final of the Italian U23 Club Championships.

And we find once again the two names that characterised the final part of the season: that of Andrea Cosi in men and that of Alexandrina Mihai in women.

And they never stop to amaze even in the shortest distances.

5.000m track walk men

There was no doubt that the victory would be the 21-year-old from Florence.

However, some doubts remained whether he would have been able to improve his personal best over distance (19:52.98 obtained at the Ridolfi Stadium in Florence on 2.5.2021) even if two weeks ago in Brescia (ITA), halfway during the splendid race ended on 10,000m, he had scored an unofficial 19:41.8.

This time Andrea Cosi did it despite the two red cards that a jury, that appeared to the coaches too rigorous, wanted to put on his path.

His split times are the following:

- 1.000m: 3:43.9

- 2.000m: 7:34.6 (3:49.7)

- 3.000m: 11:36.5 (4:01.9)

- 4.000m: 15:41.2 (4:04.7)

- last 1.000m in 4:07.8

However, his best result is still 19:41.8 passing to Brescia.

Second place to Giulio Scoli in 21:40.12

Third place went to Matteo Piervincenzi inn 23:19.87

Even in women there was no doubt about who would be the winner, but this time Alexandrina Mihai had more reason to honour the victory.

On 28 September the ceremony of oath and assignment of Italian citizenship was held at the town hall of Soave near Verona. The young athlete took the oath before the mayor, Matteo Pressi, who notified her of the decree conferring citizenship signed by the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella.

And so the first real victory as an Italian rather than as a “recognized” athlete.

Her split times aree the following:

- 1.000m: 4:20.0

- 2.000m: 8:44.1 (4:24.1)

- 3.000m: 13:12.5 (4:28.4)

- 4.000m: 17:44.7 (4:32.2)

- last 1.000m in 4:34.84

Victory for Alexandrina Mihai in 22:19:54 new personal best (previous 22:30.46 obtained in Brescia, ITA on 17.9.2022)

Second place to Martina Casiraghi in 25:26.67

Third place to Camilla Crivellaro in 26:53.75
