20/09/2022   Debrecen (HUN): The Hungarian Club Championships Final






 

 

 

The Hungarian Club Championships Final was held in Debrecen last weekend. 
The best 24 clubs fought for the points, as the first 16 clubs will stay next year in the first league.

 

 

5.000m track walk women

 

The race walking events started on Sunday at 9am in rainy, very windy and cold conditions. 

The temperature was only 9 Celsius at the start (some days before the weather was in Hungary like "late summer" with 26 Celsius). As the cold came suddenly, it had big effect on the times. 

In the women's field the Euopean Champs bronze medalist Viktória Madarász had the biggest chance for winning - she dominated in the 5000m from the beginning, there was no question about her first place. Her winning time was 22:09.98. 

Barbara Oláh secured also her second place from the beginning. The young talent, EYOF bronze medalist Alexandra Kovács finished in the 3rd position. In 23:45.24

 

 

 

 

 

 

5.000m track walk men

 

In the men's field there was a fight between Máté Helebrandt and Bence Venyercsán. 

One week before, the younger walker, Bence got the gold medal on the SuperLeague Final and this time was also very interesting battle between them. 

Finally the 3-times Olympian Máté Helebrandt won in 19:45.75 and Bence finished 10 seconds behind him (19:55.17). 

The bronze went to Tomasz Bagdány in 21:04.01
