The 2022 National University Championships of Spain were held on the track of the Monte Romero Stadium in Murcia
5.000m track walk women
With the women's 5,000 meters walk the championships open on Saturday morning (9:30 am).
Unsurprisingly, the university degree went to María Pérez García, representing the Universidad Católica San Antonio, with 20:51.55 as she broke the national distance record just a week ago (20:28.17 in Andújar, Apr. 29).
The women's podium was completed by Laura García-Caro Lorenzo, of the Universidad Camilo José Cela, with 21:39.15, and by Julia Takacs Nyerges, of the Universidad Católica San Antonio, with 23:04.83.
Ten athletes participated in the race.
10,000m track walk men
In the men's 10,000 meters, held at the end of the afternoon of the same day (19:50, Saturday), the top two finishers fell under the wall for 40 minutes, respectively, scoring the 5th and 6th seasonal world distance performances.
Victory for Álvaro Martín Uriol, from UNED - Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia, with a time of 39:35.11
Second place to Diego García Carrera, of the Universidad Católica San Antonio, in 39:53.68.
Third place went to Manuel Bermúdez Jiménez, of the Universidad Católica San Antonio, with an excellent personal best of 40:05.13 (previously, 40:36.70 in Castellón-2019).
Also worth noting, in fourth place, his university colleague, Miguel Ángel López, with 42:53.10, in a race in which 16 athletes lined up at the start.
