28/02/2022   Zagreb (CRO): 1st Croatian Race Walking Grand Prix






 

 

 

On Sunday 27 February, the first round of the newly established open Croatian GP took place on the indoor track of the Zagreb fairgrounds.
The competitions were held on the distance of 3.000m indoor walking for the senior and U20 categories, on shorter distances for the youth categories.
A good number of walkers from Croatia and neighboring Slovenia took part in the race, with good results.
Among the Slovenian athletes, trained by the Trieste walker Fabio Ruzzier, the best results came with two absolute National Records of Slovenia both in the female and in the male category.
 
 
3.000m indoor walk women (U20 and senior)
 
The first to take to the track were the women with seven athletes at the start of which six were U20s.
An interesting fight for the victory between U20 Tamara Reicht (SLO) and the youngest of a year but still U20 Zana Redzebasic (CRO)
In the final Tamara Reicht (SLO) prevailed who with a time of 15:37.94 improved the national records of Slovenia for the U18, U20 and senior categories by almost half a minute. The previous record of 16:06.35 belonged from 13.2.2021 to Karin Avsenek (SLO) who had established it in the indoor facility of the Olympic Center of Novo Mesto (SLO).
Second place to Zana Redzebasic (CRO) in 15:45.31
Third place in Stura Maja (CRO) in 16:42.92
 
The only athlete in the senior category, Mateja Erceg (CRO), finished the race in fourth position with a time of 17:39.25
 
 
 

                
 
 
3.000m U20 indoor walk men
 
Among the males, on the other hand, Jaka Grabner (SLO) from Velenje (year of birth 2003), stopped the chronometers at 13: 23.86, improving the previous record of Slovenia that already belonged to him (13:47.53,) obtained on 13.2.2021 and established in the indoor facility of the Olympic Center of Novo Mesto (SLO).
Second place for Antonio Belas (CRO) in 14:07.55
