The Federation of Athletics of Ukraine received the decision of the Sports Arbitration Tribunal of July 15, 2021 on the case of disqualification of Igor Glavan.
After examining the case, the Sports Arbitration Tribunal decided to increase Igor Glavan's ban to three years and to cancel his results, starting from 25 July 2017.
Therefore, Ihor Glavan, who was included as a member of the Ukrainian team to participate in the 2020 Olympic Games, especially in the 50 km walk, will not be able to take part in it. The disqualified athlete will be replaced by Valery Litanyuk, who was next in the world rankings and was approved by the FLAU Executive Committee as a reserve member of the official delegation.
Glavan, who had served a 2-year sentence for doping from 25/07/2017 to 24/7/19 and returned to compete by winning the national 50km titles in October 2019 and 2020, both in Ivano-Frankivsk, respectively with 3:52:13 and 3:47:31. However, and from what can be seen, all the results obtained by the athlete in the additional year of suspension are considered canceled.
This year, Glavan represented his country at the European Team Walking Championships in Podebrady (16/5), where he was ranked 17th (3:58:12).
