22/06/2021   Nerja (ESP): Antía Chamosa Dacasa and José Manuel Pérez Rubio win Spain U23 Track Championships






 

 

Last weekend, in Nerja, Malaga, the 36th Spanish Under 23 Championship took place with the organization of the Andalusian Athletics Federation, with the collaboration of the Municipality of Malaga and the support of the Nerja Athletics Club.
 
 
The two walking events took place at a distance of 10,000meters  track on two different days.
 
 
10.000m track walk U23 women
 
 
Nine athletes participated in the women's competition which took place on Saturday 19th June.
 
Antía Chamosa Dacasa (SG Pontevedra) won the race in a time of 46:07.04, which represents the new personal best of athlete on the distance.
The previous best of 48:20.00 was dated 30.6.2019 and was established in Tarragona (ESP). The athlete therefore obtained a significant improvement of 2:12.96.
However, it should be noted that Antía Chamosa had already shown her value over this distance this season (albeit on a road route) when on 8.5.2021 she achieved an excellent 46:49 in Pobra de Catamiani (ESP).
 
Second place to Mireia Urrutia Herrera (L'Hospitalet At.) in 47:44.27. Also for her new personal best (previous of 47: 48.93 obtained in Boras, SWE on 21.7.2019)
Third place went to Gemma Mora Martinez (L’Hospitalet At.) in 48:53.90. Also for her new personal best (previous of 51.45.55 obtained in Murcia, ESP on 23.6.2018)
 
 
 
10.000m track walk U23 women
 
 
Fourteen athletes participated in the men's competition which took place on Sunday 20 June.
 
José Manuel Pérez Rubio (Juventud Guadix) won the race, reconfirming the victory obtained last year. Pérez recorded a 40:55.84, his second time ever after the personal best of 40:28.20 obtained in Castellon (ESP) on 4.5.2019.
José Manuel Pérez Rubio (ESP), coached by Jacinto Garzón, is currently one of the main favorites (together with the Italians Aldo Andrei, Riccardo Orsoni and Davide Finocchietti) for the medals at the next U23 European Championships which will be held in Tallin (EST) from 8 to 11 of next July.
On that occasion, however, the race should take place over 20km on the road, even if the exact time is not yet known.
 
 

 
 
Second place to Pedro Conesa Ceron (Atletica Numantino) in 41:55.11 who instead obtained the new personal best (previous of 44:24.71 obtained in Madrid, ESP on 4.10.2020) However, it should be noted that Pedro Conesa has been expressing himself for years on the 10km road walk with marks of less than 43:00.
Here is the progression of him over the past three years
- 2018: 42:35 obtained in Taicang (CHN) on 5.5.2018
- 2019: 42:59 obtained in El Vendrell (ESP) on 10.5.2019
- 2020: 42:24 obtained in Torrevieja (ESO) on 16.2.2000
 
Third place to Eloy Hornero Gallent (Playas de Castellon) in 43:16.76 also for him new personal best (previous of 43: 24.60 obtained in Boras, SWE on 21.7.2019).
