The 10,000m running track race championships took place yesterday, Friday 18 June in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada as part of the Pacific Distance Carnival, an athletics event that also included two short-distance walk (5,000m track walk) reserved for men and women.
The day was ideal for a great performance; the sky was cloudy and the temperature around 18° Celsius.

Only three athletes at the start on the track at the Swangard Stadium in Burnaby, but the result of the winner was of high level interest.
And it was again him, Evan Dunfee (CAN), who won with a performance of 18:39.08 which in addition to being the new personal best of the athlete (previous of 18:53.06 established on 5.4.2014 in Vancouver, CAN) is also the best seasonal performance in the world.

Finally, as in the result obtained on Saturday 12 June 2021 on the same track at the Vancouver Sun Harry Jerome Track Classic on the 10,000m track walk distance (38:39.72), Evan Dunfee's performance represents Canada's new national distance record (previous of 18: 45.64 obtained on 18.2.2012 in Sydney, AUS from Inaki Gomez, CAN).
After covering the first 200m in 42:59 Evan Dunfee walked on a pace between 1:29.14 and 1:30.78 until two laps to go.
On the penultimate lap he covered the 400m in 1:28.14 (17:12.62) to finish the last 400m in 1:26.46 for a final mark of 1:39.08
