In Ancona, on the first day of the Italian Absolute Indoor Championships, the two walking races took place on the classic distances of 5,000m indoors for men and 3,000m indoors for women.
3.000m indoor women
It starts with women.
Compulsory favorite Valentina Trapletti who immediately takes the lead by about twenty meters but which seem to be increasing; Federica Curiazzi follows.
The passage to 1.000m of the Trapletti is 4:18.04 with a beautiful walk, made of fluidity, with a manual movement of the hips, an attack on the ground of the advancing leg by the heel, that is always nice to see so well executed. If you want to look for the speck in the eye of others, in our humble opinion, you should go out to keep the rear push more and raise the heel a little less when the push is complete. We know that this gesture is common to many athletes, but this is precisely the discriminating factor between "textbook" walking and "good walking".
Her split times:
- 1.000m: 4:18.1
- 2.000m: 8:32:9 (4:15.8)
- last 1.000m in 4:10.14
Victory to Valentina Trapletti (ITA) in 12:43.04
Second place to Federica Curiazzi (ITA) in 13:32.85
Third place to Sara Vitiello (ITA) in 14:01.07
5.000m indoor walk
He was entered, and the outgoing champion Francesco Fortunato would have presented himself as the favorite, but he is not at the start.
The athlete entrusted to his Facebook page the regret of not being able to defend the title due to a foot problem.
There are therefore only two senior athletes left (Federico Tontodonati and Leonardo Dei Tos) to contend for the title against the U20 and U23 patrol in the rematch competition of the U20 and U23 Italian Championships two weeks ago.
Federico Tontodonati immediately takes the lead (and he does not know it yet, but he will never be taken up again).
A small group of three athletes follow him: Leonardo dei Tos, Riccardo Orsoni and Aldo Andrei.
The split times of Tontodonati:
- 1.000m: 3:55.6
- 2.000m: 7:45.5 (3:49.9)
- 3.000m: 11:37.3 (3:51.8)
Shortly after 3,500m in the group of Federico Tontodonati's chasers, Leonardo Dei Tos lengthens his pace and only Ricccardo Orsoni can resist him.
Federico Tontodonati continues undaunted as he passes to 4.000m in 15:38.0 (4:00.7) but realizes that two red cards against him appear on the disqualification board. He is thus forced to manage the race (last 1.000m in 3:55.71) and not to look for the personal best (19:26.94).
Federico Tontodonati wins in 19:33.71
Second place to Leonardo Dei Tos in 19:41.18
Third place to Riccardo Orsoni in 19:44.49 obtaining the new personal best (previous of 20:56.26 established in Ancona, ITA on 2.3.2019)
The recent winners of the U20 Indoor Championships (Pietro Pio Notaristefano) and last week's U18 Indoor Championships (Diego Giampaolo) were disqualified.
