04/02/2021   El Vendrell (ESP): The road walking championships of Catalonia






 

 

 

Last Sunday (31st) the Catalonia Road Walk Athletics Championships were held, an event intended for the senior, U23, U20, and youth.

The competitions were held in the city of El Vendrell, and were integrated into the 6th March Grand Prix of Vendrell, in an organization of the Club Atletisme Corredores El Vendrell and the support of the City Council.

In the main women's race, Raquel González (FC Barcelona) stands out, winning the Catalan title (her eighth title and her fourth in a row) with a mark of 1:35:22.
The Catalan athlete, one of the best Spanish walkers of all time, boasts a personal best of 1:28:36, and now she continues more serenely on her journey towards participation in the Olympic Games.
Second place at Mar Juarez in 1:36.28. However, in the last edition of the last world championships in Doha, the Avinent Manresa athlete participated in the grueling 50km test.
Third place to Antia Chamosa (SG Pontevedra), U23 athlete, in 1:40:11.

In the main men's race, 20 miles (20 km), victory of Daniel Chamosa (SG Pontevedra), with a mark of 1:31:23.
He had to fight until the end to get the better of Mario Viñas (AA Catalunya), who followed him very close in 1:31:27. However, the latter became champion of Catalonia for the third time.
Third place went to the legendary Jesus Angel García Bragado (CD Tajamar), in 1:33:48, who has his place secured at the Olympics.
