02/02/2021   Ancona (ITA): Next Saturday the Italian Indoor U20 and U23 Championships

Saturday 6th February the Italian Indoor Championships begin in the usual location in Ancona.

The first of three weeks dedicated to these events will be reserved for U20s and U23s whose races will take place at the following scheduled times:

- 3.000m indoor U20 women: 11:20

- 5.000m indoor U23 men: 11.45

- 3.000m indoor U23 women: 11:50

- 5.000m indoor U20 men: 12:15

The Covid-19 safety regulations have obliged Fidal to limit participation to a maximum of six athletes per race, offering participation in the first six of the 2020 outdoor ranking with a waiting list of a further three in the event that any of the first ones give up.

3.000m indoor U20 women

Our favorite is Martina Casiraghi (personal best on the distance of 14.22.85 established in Ancona on 9.2.2019)

5.000m indoor U23 men

Our favorite is Riccardo Orsoni (personal best on the distance of 20: 56.26 established in Ancona on 2.3.2019), but will have to contend with Davide Finocchietti (personal best on the distance of 20: 32.94 established in Minsk, BLR on 25.2.2020 ) and with Aldo Andrei (personal best on the distance of 20: 46.90 established in Ancona on 22.2.2020).

As an outsider we see Andrea Cosi (personal best on the distance of 23: 09.80 established in Ancona on 10.2.2018).

3.000m indoor U23 women

Interesting will be the battle between Simona Bertini (personal best on the distance of 13: 30.22 established in Ancona on 8.2.2020) who will have to contend with Sara Buglisi (personal best on the distance of 13: 17.40 established in Ancona on 8.2.2020)

5.000m indoor U20 men

If there are all six main protagonists it will really be the most interesting race.

Our slight preference goes to Gabriele Gamba (personal best on the distance of 21: 11.95 established in Ancona on 8.2.2020).

The special interest is given by the fact that the six athletes are equally divided between three from the year 2002 (hence already U20 in 2020 and three from 2021 (which in 2020 were still U18).
The other personal best on distance, in addition to that of Gabriele Gamba, are:

- Daniele Breda: 22:52.05 established in Ancona on 9.2.2019
- Emiliano Brigante: 22:09.63 established in Ancona on 9.2.2019
- Nicola Lomuscio: 20:54.38 established in Ancona on 22.2.2020
- Pietro Pio Notaristefano: 21:45.00 established in Ancona on 15.2.2020
- Filippo Antonio Capostagno: 22:59.16 established in Ancona on 8.2.2020
