05/09/2020   Székesfehérvár (HUN): Victories of Mate Helebrandt and Viktoria Madarasz (with national record in 5.000m track walk)

Székesfehérvar (city for an Italian with an unpronounceable name) just under halfway between Lake Balaton and Budapest (HUN)), is hosting the finals of the Hungarian Championships for Clubs.

Yesterday Saturday 5th September the walking races took place, which reserved excellent results and a race, the men's one, which was decided on the wool thread.

5.000m track walk men

Sixteen athletes at the start.
At the end of the race nine athletes improved their personal best, and seven established the season best, but this wasn't hardly to think given the number of events this season.
To tell the truth, Hungary has been competing on track for almost two months now and all the calendars include the walking events.
If we should say what the state of the Hungarian race walk is, considering the events of this period, we should limit ourselves to one word: growing !

However, yesterday Mate Helebrandt (HUN) had to work hard to win over Bence Barnabas Venyercsan (HUN).
At the end of the race only 1”30/100 divided the two contenders.
Mate Helebrandt was timed in 19:57.43
Bence Barnabas Venyercsan was instead clocked 19:58.73 which for him represents the new personal best on distance (the previous one of 20:07.64 was established in Budapest, HUN on 30.6.2017)

Third place to Tomasz Bagdany (HUN) in 20:14.43 also for him represents the new personal best on the distance (the previous of 20:43.57 was established in Budapest, HUN on 21.6.2019)

Once again to report the personal best obtained by Norbert Toth (HUN) with a time of 20:58.53 which earned him 5th place. The young 19-year-old Hungarian yesterday succeeded in his goal of breaking down the 21:00.00 wall (which he had come close to in Budapest last 25.7.2020) by stopping the clock in 21:03.67. This result represents the third U20 world distance performance of the season.

5.000m track walk women

Also in this race sixteen athletes at the start.

She was too strong for the other competitors Viktoria Madarasz (HUN) who immediately imposed the pace.
Always with a very fast pace and alone, the nice Hungarian athlete has succeeded in her aim to get the new personal best and the new national record.
Her victory in 21:01.41
The previous personal best and national record (21:02.72) was set in Budapest (HUN) on 30.6.2017

Second place to Barbara Kovacs (HUN) in 23:11.79
Third place to Rita Recsei (HUN) in 23:29.97

Also in women's race, in addition to Madarasz's national record, we saw three more personal bests and seven season bests.
