Another success and a new record added to his carnet by Salih Korkmaz (TUR).
Race always in the lead of Salih Korkmaz who started with the intention of doing better than the 19:43.24 he had obtained in Ankara (TUR) on 25.5.2019.
At the finish, 12.77/100 seconds had been cut to the athlete's previous personal best, which was also Turkey's previous distance record.
However, we must point out that the performance obtained (19:30.79) here in Bursa is not the best result of the athlete.
In fact, Salih Korkmaz boasts an excellent indoor 19:13.59 obtained at the beginning of the season (11.1.2020) at the Atakoy Arena of Istanbul also this national indoor record.

Second place to Mustafa Ozbek (TUR) with a time of 20:55.25 who smashed his previous personal best of 22:18.47 (obtained on 9.6.2015 in Istanbul, TUR)

New personal best for her too. The previous of 23:06.52 was obtained just 20 days ago (8.8.2020) in Ankara (TUR).
This performance represents for the young Turkish junior athlete the third best Turkish result of all time on this distance behind Meryem Bekmez (21:35.87) and Ayse Tekdal (21:58.62).

A brief mention for Mustafa Akyavas, the selector and head coach of the march in Turkey.
A person of incredible humility and education who believes only in technical work in the field to also emerge in the results. In recent years he has managed to transform Turkey's walking team into an increasingly close-knit group that is starting to reap success in Europe.

We had the pleasure of having met him personally in Izmir in 2014 on the occasion of a European Masters Championship and to exchange some opinions on race walking with him. In particular, he asked us for some technical material to help a young judge at European level grow in Turkey too. Of course, we were happy to provide the requested support. Since then he remained in contact with Italy thanks also to his friendship with our judge Mara Baleani.

A dedication to work that hasn't affected the success. Our best wishes for the future, Mustafa, keep it up: you won't miss success.
