The first race of the year, the Swiss track championships in Chailly (VD) were a success. With excellent sporting benefits, including a French record: that set by David Kuster in U23 category in 40:10.0 !
After 133 days, more than four months after the cancellation of the Lugano Trophy, the walkers returned to compete in Switzerland. The test, initially scheduled for June, had been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
10.000m track walk men
Separated into two starts to better distribute the athletes, the 10.000 meters saw the clear victory of the young Frenchman David Kuster (EFS Reims Athletics), who in 40:10.0 established the best French performance of all time in the U23 (previous 40:23).
Last week in Capavinir-Vosges (FRA) David Kuster established his personal best on the distance of the 5.000m track walk in 19:32.11.
"He is a future Olympic walker," said Frédéric Bianchi, the vice president of Swiss Walking who has been following Alsace for several seasons.
Second place to Martin Come (FRA) in 46:34.1
Third place to Manuel Giordano (ITA) in 49:25.1
First of the Swiss, in his first competition with the elites, Nathan Bonzon (SUI) who completed the 25 laps in fourth position in 52:13.
5.000m track walk women
Victory to Caroline Osmont (FRA) in 23:45.20.
Second place to Dora Brière (SUI) in 30:11.0
Third place to Colette Girard (SUI) in 32:28.3
