04/02/2020   Ancona (ITA) - Indoor 2020 season starts with U20 and U23 Italian Championships






 

 

This on Saturday and Sunday is the first of the three weekends in Italy dedicated to the Italian Indoor Championships.
It starts on Saturday 8 February with the Championship reserved for the U20 and U23 men and women categories, and will continue the next one with the U18 and then end with the absolute one.
 
The hours of this weekend are scheduled as follows:
- 15:00: 3.000m indoor U23 women
- 15:30: 5.000m indoor U20 men
- 16:05: 3.000m indoor U20 women
- 16:35: 5.000m indoor U23 men
 
 
 
3.000m indoor U23 women
 
It appears on paper as the least interesting race of the four.
The names of the accredited participants with the best performances are those of Vittoria Giordani and Annalisa Russo.
In particular, the first (born in 2000) is accredited with a mark of 23:24.70 (on 5.000m) which is the only one of the lot under 24:00.00.
Annalisa Russo (born in 1998) is instead entered with a mark of 24:18.16 which is still below 24.30.00.
Among the athletes who did it with the accreditation mark on 3,000m indoor, the name of Annachaira Paternicò stands out as she was able to obtain on 12.1.2020 in Padua, ITA a mark of 14:03.07 which in theory should be enough to make it fight with the other two for a medal
 
The 2019 champion title belongs to Lidia Barcella (born 1997) who on this oval had won in 13: 57.20
 
 
 
3.000m indoor U20 women
 
It will be a highly interesting race with a large number of athletes at the start (18) and with fairly similar values ​​for at least four athletes.
They are:
- Sara Bugisi who is accredited of 49:27 (obtained in 10km on road)
- Martina Casiraghi accredited of 50:26 (obtained in 10km on road)
- Camilla Gatti, the home athlete of Atletica Fabriano, coached by the old glory of the Italian race walk Carlo Mattioli, acrredited of 49:23.1 (obtained in the 10,000m on track)
- Simona Bertini accredited of 50:41.48 (obtained in the 10,000m on track)
 
However, they should not be overlooked, as they are in full growth:
- Alessia Titone accredited of 51:38 (obtained in 10km on road)
- Ida Mastrangelo accredited of 51: 08.61 (obtained in the 10,000m on track)
 
The 2019 champion title belongs to Andrada Lavinia Lacatus (born 2000) who on this oval had won in 13: 39.72, and who made other choices.
 
 
 
5.000m indoor U20 men
 
This too, will be a very interesting race from a competitive point of view with 21 athletes at the start.
At least six will have their say during the test.
They are:
- Breda Daniele accredited of 20:52.05 (obtained in the 5.000m on track)
- Gamba Gabriele accredited of 21:08.90 (obtained in the 5.000m on track)
- Andrea Cosi accredited of 21:12.87 (obtained in the 5.000m on track) and recent winner of the Italian U20 title on 20km in Grosseto in 1:28:45
- Giulio Scoli accredited of 21: 32.75 (obtained in the 5.000m on track)
- Davide Finocchietti accredited of 21:40.26 (obtained in the 5.000m on track)
- Aldo Andrei accredited of 43:34.24 (obtained in the 10,000m on track) which is among other things also the most titled of the group with the silver won in Gyor (HUN) on 6.6.2018 in the European Championships U18
 
The 2019 champion title belongs to Riccardo Orsoni who on this oval had won in 21:17.93.
 
 
5.000m indoor U23 men
 
Very few athletes in the race, but a competitive profile of good interest.
Four of them show up at the start with a time of less than 22:00 on the 5,000m on track.
They sare:
- Matteo Gallo accredited of 21:08.98
- Alfonso Alberga accredited of 21:08.98 and recent winner of the Italian U23 title on the 20km in Grosseto in 1:30:44
- Riccardo Orsoni accredited of 21: 22.51 which is also the most titled of the group with the silver won in Boras (SWE) on 21.7.2019 in the U20 European Championships
- Juriy Micheletti accredited of 21: 28.94
 
The 2019 champion title belongs to Giacomo Brandi who on this oval had won in 21:29.33.
