The Atakoy Arena in Istanbul (TUR) hosted the Indoor Championships of Turkey on Saturday 22 January 2020.
The scheduled races were walked on the classic distances of 5,000m indoors for men and 3.000m indoors for women and were open to the Senior, U20 and U18 categories.
5.000m indoor men
Clear victory for Salih Korkmaz (TUR) in 19:13.59. This result represents for the 23 year old Turkish who celebrated his birthday on 1.1.2020 the new personal best and it is the second indoor world performance of the 2019-2020 season on this distance behind that of Eduard Zabuzhenko (18: 53.77) obtained in Sumy ( UKR) on 21.12.2019 as well as being Turkey's new national record. The previous personal best of 19:15.67 dated back to 13.1.2019 obtained in the same system.

Also in this race a clear victory for Meryem Bekmez (TUR) in 12: 31.08. This result represents the new personal best for the not yet twenty year old Turkish woman (born 31.7.2000) and is the best indoor world performance of the 2019-2020 season over this distance. The previous personal best of 12:35.23 dated back to 13.1.2019 obtained in the same system.
Second place to Kader Dost (TUR) in 13: 10.25

3.000m indoor U20 women
Victory for Evin Demir (TUR) in 13: 00.31. Which with this result ranks second in Turkey's U20 all-time list behind Meryem Belmez (12.35.23)
