13/03/2019   Lugano (SUI): Sunday the 16th Memorial Mario Albisetti

Sunday, March 17th will be a great day for the world race walk.

We will start when it will still be night in Europe with the 20km Asian Championships in Nomi (JPN) of which we have already made the presentation.
In the European morning, the 16th Mario Albisetti memorial in Lugano and the LXXI Spanish Championship of 20km in Oropesa del Mar (ESP) will take place.

For the 16th memorial Mario Albisetti - Trofeo Lugano, the entries have already been closed.

A fair number of athletes are entered for the two most important events, those on the 20km of men and women

20km men

Among all stands the name of Erick Bernabé Barrondo (GUA) who boasts on the 20km the personal best of 1:18:25 established in Lugano in the edition held on Mar. 18, 2012 when he came second behind Alex Schwazer.
For Barrondo the 2012 season was memorable and ended with the London Olympic silver.
His progression, however, in the following years was never up to the performance of that year
