The IAAF Athletics Integrity Unit on 4.9.2018 opened a disciplinary process against athlete Alina Tsviliy (born Halchenko) and consequently her provisional suspension was in force.
If the procedure confirms the athlete's positivity (adverse analytical finding), second at the European Championships in Berlin in the women's 50km race walk, the silver medal would go to Julia Takacs and the bronze medal to teammate Khrystyna Yudkina (UKR).
The positivity of Tsviliy is for trimetazidine (art.2.1).
Trimetazidine is a substance that inhibits beta-oxidation of fatty acids (beta-blockers) that is used in the treatment of angina pectoris, but also in Otorhinolaryngology and Ophthalmology. The best known commercial name is Vastarel.
It is considered by WADA among the substances used to improve the performance by increasing the possibility of physical effort since the fifteenth day of treatment.
This is the first adverse analytical finding in 50km women since the event was admitted in major Championships.
