The male presence of Ukraine is complicated at the upcoming European Championships in Berlin.
Just yesterday we had remembered, while we were presenting the 2018 list of 20 km European athletes with a performance below 1:24:00 that certainly there will be the absence of one of their top athletes, Ruslan Dmitrenko (UKR) who among other things in Zurich 2014 he was fourth in 1:19:46.
The suspension was already known from 27 March 2017 by Nazar Kovalenko (UKR) and reported on the website of the Athletics Integrity Unit ( click here ): even for him the suspension is the consequence of anomalies in his biological passport. And, as is usually the case, a decision by the national court of Ukraine is still awaiting him.
Instead, the news about Igor Glavan (Ihor Hlavan), who was absent from Taicang in the 50km distance, passed almost unnoticed.
Also in his case the suspension is the consequence of anomalies in his biological passport and begins, as reported ( click here ) on the website of NADO of Ukraine, from 22 December 2017.
The two top athletes in the 20km of Ukraine should therefore be Ivan Losev (1:20:53) and Ivan Banzeruk (1:21:25).
In the 50km instead the top athlete should be Maryan Kakalnytskyy with the time of 3:44:43 obtained in Taicang last May 5 where he had impressed the insiders experts for his final race in crescendo. Ivan Banzeruk also has the entry standard for the 50km (3:49:17) and also he is back from a good experience in Taicang.
