Last Saturday in Cork, Ireland, the 68th edition of the City Sports Athletics Meeting was held, which, as usual, also included a marching race on the distance of the
3.000m walk on track men
This is a fairly usual distance for meetings in Britain and Ireland.
Even if the number of participants was not very high (only five athletes were present at the start) the result obtained was instead of high technical and statistical interest.
Fairly clear victory to Callum Wilkinson (GBR) in 10:59.00 new athlete's personal best on outdoor track distance (previous personal best: 11:13:07 obtained in Leeds, GBR 12.6.2017).
The athlete however has a better result on the same indoor distance (10:52.77) obtained in Glasgow, GBR on 27.2.2018.
Second place to Alex Wright (IRL) in 11:06.28 (his personal best on the distance is 10:58.47 obtained in Cork, IRL on 8.7.2014)
Third place for Brendan Boyce (IRL) in 11:17.84 new personal best (previous of 11:34.06 obtained in Cork, IRL on 28.6.2016).
With this race in Cork and the fact of the low number of races that are held annually over this distance, it has revolutionized the world rankings of the year as follows:
