27/07/2019   Baku (AZE): Jekaterina Mirotvortseva (EST) wins 5.000m track walk at Eyof






On Friday 26 July in Baku (AZE), the 5.000m U18 race walk event was held as part of the European Youth Festival (EYOF).

 
The male race had opened the athletics competitions and took place on Monday 22 July.
The temperature at the start of the race was 25° Celsius, but the humidity was very high (70%).

The favorite of the eve was Jekaterina Mirotvortseva (EST) who boasted two performances of high international level:

Only three athletes from Russia, who as we all know do not compete internationally, had done better than Mirotvortseva in the 2019 season (Yuliya Khalilova, Sabina Slesareva and Elvina Muratova).
The athlete from Estonia is leading the race from the beginning and right from the start we have the feeling that it will no longer be reached.

- 1.000m: 4:36.02
- 2.000m: 9:09.96 (4:33.94)
- 3.000m: 13:37.20 (4:27.24)
- 4.000m: 18:04.31 (4:27.11)
- last 1,000m in 4:21.70
 
Victory to Jekaterina Mirotvortseva (EST) in 22:26.01 which represents Estonia's new national record. The previous record belonged to the same athlete and was obtained in Rakvere (EST) on 27.6.2019 during the U18 Estonian Championships. Obviously it is also the national record U18, U20 and U23.
Second place in Lizaveta Hryshkevich (BLR) in 23: 33.23
Third place to Alicia Lumberas (ESP) in 23:43.04
Fourth place in Siri Glittenberg (NOR) in 24:09.03
Fifth place for Maele Bire-Heslouis (FRA) in 24:17.63
The athletes classified third, fourth and fifth have all established the new personal best.
