24/07/2019   San José de Costarica (CRC): Glenda Morejon (ECU) and Cesar Cordova (MEX) new Pan-American U20 champions






On Saturday and Sunday (20 and 21/7), the 10,000m track walk valid for the XX Pan American Championships U20 took place in San José, Costa Rica.

 
It was the occasion to see again Glenda Estefania Merejón (ECU) after the brilliant between La Coruna in early June.

Slightly more than a training session, the Glenda Estefania Morejon (ECU) race that was quietly won with the time of 44:46.02 (remember that his personal best on the distance is 44:12.75 set in Trujillo, FOR 25.8.2018). For the memory, we must also remember that in the famous La Coruna race the Morejon passed with the Chinese Yang Jiayu, Liu Hong and Qieyang Shenjie at 10km in 42:58.
Only a small additional effort would have been enough to beat the Pan-American U20 record belonging to Alegna Gonzalez (MEX) with a time of 44:43.89 from 23.7.2017
 
Second place to Mary Luz Andia (PER) in 45:22.94 (new personal best, previous of 46:49.59 established in Tampere, FIN on 14.7.2018)
Third place to Noelia Vargas (CRC) in 46:32.92

Victory to Cesar Cordova Fernandez (MEX) in 42:26.83
Second place to Carlos Emiliano Mercenario (MEX) in 43:08.94 (new personal best, previous of 43:24.62 obtained in Xalapa, MEX on 6.3.2017
Third place to Sebastian Felipe Marchan (COL) in 43:16.71
 
Eleven athletes at the start of which 10 completed the race and 1 DQ
