Tomorrow in the evening (Baku time, AZE) the first of the two walking events of race walking will take place during the first day of the athletic competitions of the European Youth Olympic Festival 2019: the one reserved for men on 10.000m track walk.
There are only ten athletes rentered in representing 10 countries.
The best accreditation time is that of Gabriele Gamba (ITA) who at Agropoli (ITA) on 22.6.2019 obtained an excellent 43: 52.66. The Italian, however, entered the race with a time of 43:41 obtained on the road in Podebrady (CZE) on 6.4.2019.
The second accreditation time is that of Mustafa Tekdal (TUR) younger brother of Ayse Tekdal the recent winner of the U23 European Championships in Gavle (SWE). He is also entered with the time obtained on the road in Alexandropulis (GRE) on 20.4.2019, while on the distance on track he boasts a mark of 46:59.34 obtained in Istanbul (TUR) on 4.6.2018.
Together with them in the fight for medals there are also:
- Dimitri Durand (FRA) with a time of 44:42 (obtained on road in La Coruna on 6.6.2019)
- Dzmitry Shmidt (BLR) with a time of 44:34.76 obtained on track in Grodno (BLR) on 18.6.2019
