24/03/2019   Megara (GRE): National Greek U23 Championships






Today  Sunday  March 24, in  the  Varea  Beach,in  the  historic city of  Megara, 50km west  on  Athens, took  place  the  national race walk  championship  U23 and the  trails  to select the  team  for the  Balkan Championship in Alexandroupoli on April 20, 2019.

 

 

 

20km U23 women

 

Victory to Efstathia Kourkoutsaki (GRE) in 1:41:03. After  many  years  strong  training  she finally obtained her  personal best and the entry standard for  the European U23 championships.

Second place to Dimitra Mpochori (GRE) in 1:49:01

Third place to Berame Kelemeni (GRE) in 1:50:14

 

 

20km men and U23

 

Victory in U23 to George  Tzatzimakis (GRE)  in 1:31:18, after  the  succesfull  competition  in  Lugano  last Sunday, with  the  ticket foe  the  same  championship  in  his  hand.  

The  race was won by Zacharias  Tsamoudakis (GRE) in 1:27:16 back to racing after one year stop, due to  health problems and a change of  sports  club. 

 

 


 

 

 

10km U18 boys 

 

Victory to Alexandros Mortzakis (GRE) in 48:48

Second place to Efthimios Psonis (GRE) in 50:09

Third place to Michail Kelepouris (GRE) in 50:41

 

 

5km U18 girls

 

Victory to Maria Ariadni Fatourou (GRE) in 25:41.5

Second place to  Anastasia  Antonopoulou (GRE) (year of birth 2004) in 25:42.8

Third place to Panagiota Florou (GRE) in 26:12.1

 

Finaly  during  the  protocol  ceremoy  the  Munisipality  & the Mayor  of the  city of Megara, rewarded Nick  Lagojannis, the  only race walking judge of  level 3 in Greece (2002-2006), for  his non stop working  for  race  walking!
