Saturday at the indoor palace “Peace & Friendship” in Pireaus took place the Greek Indoor Championship; race walking events were as usual 5000m race walk men and the 3000m race walk women.
The spectators had the opportunity to see 2 excellent events with the athletes try to do their best although they are in the middle of the their preparation for the great summer competitions.
3.000m indoor walk women
The winner was for the fifth consecutive time, Panagiota Tsinopoulou (GRE) with the mark of 12:51.57.
Second place to Kiriaki Filtitsakou (GRE) in 13:24.28 who broke the very old national record in 30000m. indoor walk U20 obtained on Feb. 12, 1992 by Christina Deskou.
Third place to the Olympic youth bronze medalist Olga Fiaska (GRE) in 13:29.63 although she fallen down during the competition. This performance is the new personal best of the young Greek (previous of 13:54.72 obtained always in Piraeus, GRE on Feb. 10, 2018)
5.000m indoor walk men
The winner was for the sixth consecutive time, Alexandros Papamichail (GRE) with the mark of 19:31.02.
Second place to Giorgos Tzatzimakis (GRE) in 20:00.53 in his first race in U20
Third place to Yiannis Vaitsis (GRE) in 20:36.63.
Alexandros Papamichail is preparing for the 50km in Doha and in Alytus he will compete in 20km as a test.
Tsinopoulou, Filtitsakou, Fiaska, Papamichail and Tzatzimakis this year they are looking for participate in Iaaf Challenges and moreover at the Balkan race walk championship which will take place in Alexandroupoli (GRE) on July 27, 2019.
